This saturday I was fortunate enough to attend a great event put on by Omnipod to help build a community of pumpers in the Dallas area as well as provide tips and tricks to help better manage diabetes. There was a a panel of "experts" that I was somehow was allowed to be on. They must have hit the bar a little early that day of planning haha.
I have a new found sense of accomplishment when I am able to help a person in the diabetes community have a life that is a little more manageable. There was a wide range of people there, from parents of young kids with diabetes, to parents with kids in college with diabetes, to older married couples with diabetes. All groups equally benefited, and I thought the event was a big success.
There were numerous companies there as well trying to do their part in helping the Diabetes community. They included: Meals to Live, Omni Pod, Dexcom, Byram Healthcare, and the Type one Diabetes Foundation (Collin County Type One). If you are looking for a support system in dallas, look at the collin county type one foundation. They do great work in providing a family atmosphere and helping those in need.
